Tuesday 8/10/13: This was the day we embarked on an epic road trip south to Busselton (to stay with Jeff's Sister Jane and her husband for a few days) and beyond.
The sun was making very minimal effort to turn up for work that morning, or rather the clouds had rallied.....
....Either way, the results were a sight to behold. Not the blue sparkling crystalline waters these beaches have developed the taste for, but roaring white crested barrels of tumbling water. Much more cinematic.
'YOU CAN'T CATCH ME..MWHAHAHA!!' (whilst our pet sponge watches in terror)
These waves would have buried me!!
Here's one for lip readers: "Huuugggeeee"..waves
A game of cat and mouse... With a far soggier ending.
...We would never confess to being experts, but isn't this a perfect wave for surfing?
Even the rocks stood no chance.
To this scaly fellow's delight, the sun finally made a cameo appearance.
The ocean continued it's vicious onslaught
Equipped with the perfect climbing apparatus, we hopped between the rocks with cat-like agility (well, in a world in which cats had become so tired of the expectations afforded by their balletic deftness of movement that they'd adopted the less coordinated slug/snail approach to trans-location).
Canal Rocks - Yallingup, WA. Usually this is perfectly inviting snorkeling territory.
Bunker Bay Boy
EEEEEEEAAAASYYYY! - I'm lying.
After the beach stroll, we sat in a beach-side cafe before heading on to Dunsborough - A lovely little place with the Pour house, a watering hole (pub) that boasted 50+ beers and stouts! I only had the dollar for several.
Wednesday 9/10/13: This day we road-tripped a further 300km to mingle with the (mostly) untamed nature the southern region contains.
You could say they look a bit.... EMUsing..... Sorry. Australia's biggest bird.
Wild Kangaroos
We then experienced the truly terrifying amazing tree-top walk in the 'valley of the giants', and generally decided that being a tree is a bit more of an ordeal than previously imagined. This is partly due to the fact that the trees here (Karri trees) are the third tallest in the world, and to truly experience all 70m of their height, one must walk on a wobbly metal bridge between the very tops of their impressive gravity defying bulks (a place usually reserved for birds). Not for those who find heights a bit of a struggle (Steve)....
Despite the height, views of the trees and forest below were second to none.
Jeff was impossibly relaxed.
Yep, It wobbles!
These are what they look like from a somewhat more comfortable viewing position... Skyscrapers of the natural world.
Our best tree impersonations.
We then headed for the sea....
...and some rocks that look similar a certain land animal. Elephant Rocks - Denmark, WA.
William Bay- Denmark, WA
The drive home took us through more lush Karri tree forests.
And a cheeky spot of off-roading.
We left on our journey back to Jeff's sister's place a bit later than planned. It is usually suggested that travelling by car along these roads, which are usually 10's of kilometres away from the nearest town, is done during daylight. We found out that as the sun subsides, the kangaroos come out to play.
Earlier on that day we laughed reproachfully at these signs, and what fabulous touristic snap they make. On this 2 hour drive through darkened wilderness spanning roads we discovered that when faced with a pair of rapidly approaching headlights, kangeroos have the survival instincts of the average turnip... Scary times.

Thursday 10/09/13: A casual walk and the 500km voyage back to Perth...
As the camera succumbed to exhaustion later on this day, we decided to fill this day's post with photo's of their puppy. Everybody loves puppies? As we were cold turkey on the dog front, Coco, perfectly filled the dog shaped void in our lives. (3 weeks without Buster).
